A woman and her lover strangled her mother for questioning her illicit relationship. Both have been arrested, Bommanahalli police said.
The victim has been identified as Hongasandra resident Jayalakshmi (48). The deceased’s daughter Pavithra (28) and her lover Lavanish (20) have been arrested, police added.
Pavithra was married to her maternal relative Suresh about 11 years ago and the couple has two young children aged 10 and 6. Pavithra developed a relationship with Lavaneesh who lived in a rented accommodation in the building where she lived. After their relationship came to light Lavanish was asked to vacate the house. he started living in another house nearby, police said.
Despite this, Pavithra continued her relationship with Lavanish which led to fights between the daughter and mother. On September 11, Pavithra and Lavanish strangled Jayalakshmi with a towel and stowed the body near a toilet, police said.
A case of unnatural death was registered by police. The acutopsy noted strangulation as the cause of death. Though Pavithra initially claimed that her mother had slipped and fell, during investigation it was revelaed that Lavanish and Pavithra had killed her.
Police said both Lavanish and Pavithra have been arrested.
