Bengaluru: A woman here who had accused a Zomato delivery executive of assaulting her has now been accused of accidentally hitting herself with her own ring while shoving the delivery executive.
The claim was made by the delivery executive, Kamraj, who was called by the Electronic City Phase 1 Police Station and questioned for two hours based on the woman’s narrative.
The woman had posted a video on her Instagram account claiming that a delivery executive had punched her on the face when she was talking to Zomato support to make her order non-chargeable as the delivery was late.
Kamraj in his statement said that when he reached the woman’s house for the delivery he apologised for the late delivery explaining that the road works and traffic jams made him late. To which the woman replied that she is already talking to Zomato support to make her order free as he was late.
The woman refused to pay him. Kamraj then received a message from Zomato that the order has been cancelled so he asked her to return the order, however, she refused started abusing him by calling him a slave and asking ‘what will you do?’
Seeing her starting to become abusive, Kamraj decided to leave the building and while he was at the lift, he claims, she threw slippers at him and approached him to hit him to which he raised his hands to shield himself.
When she tried to push his hands away she accidentally hit herself on the nose and started bleeding. Kamraj, to avoid further attacks, ran down the stairs.
Kamraj said that unfortunately there is no CCTV footage to prove his claims. To support his claims he said that the cut on her nose can be understood by anybody to be from a ring and not a punch, adding that he does not wear any rings.
Zomato has already suspended Kamraj pending investigation soon after the woman’s video.
