Bengaluru zoo to host event showcasing protected Malabar butterfly species

Bengaluru: Bengaluru Bannerghatta Biological Park is hosting a week-long event showcasing the protected Malabar banded swallowtail butterflies, as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

The objective of the fest is to increase public awareness regarding a Schedule 1 protected species, the Malabar Banded Swallowtail Butterfly, which is endemic to the Western Ghats.

Online webinars will be conducted to create awareness about the Malabar Banded Swallowtail and ways to conserve them. Also, Various online competitions will be conducted as part of the event.

The quiz will be conducted on June 29 and the link will be shared on the zoo website and social media pages. Entries  for the drawing and craft competitions have to be sent by July 1 and entries for the photography and elocution competitions by July 3 to [email protected]
