Bengaluru: Chandra Layout police arrested two persons for allegedly being in the illegal business of procuring, transporting, and selling marijuana.
Police said they have arrested Aineshwar (25) of Shivajinagar and Nadeem (25) of Kodigehalli and confiscated 81.450 kg of ganja and the Tata Ace truck used for drug transport from them.
The accused allegedly bought the cannabis grown in the jungles of Andhra Pradesh for cheap. They used to transport it to major demand centers including Ramanagar, Mandya, Mysuru, and Bengaluru, and sold the contraband for huge profits.
The police said they are investigating the kingpin behind organized crime. Information on others who are suspected to be involved in drug trafficking racket is being put together, they said.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the duo at the Chandra Layout police station.
