Bengaluru: Govindarajanagar police have arrested a man who allegedly robbed houses with the intention of providing a luxurious life for his beloved wife and kids.

According to police, Imran (26) from K R Puram, was arrested for house theft. They also seized 147-gram gold jewelry worth Rs 8.5 lakh, 1.517 kg of silver ornaments, and a two-wheeler from him.

Imran earned a meager income as a scrap dealer but wanted to take his wife to tourist destinations across India. As his earnings were not enough to realize his dream, he robbed houses as a means of accumulating extra cash.

The accused identified houses during his trips to collect scrap and broke into them during the night after ensuring none were home. He would pledge the stolen valuables for a loan and go on trips with his wife to tourist destinations across India, including Kashmir, police added.

Meanwhile, there are theft cases registered against him at 6 police stations in Bengaluru, including KR Puram, Marathahalli, and Ashoknagar, police said.
