Benkanahalli Pattada Mutt seer commits suicide

Mysuru: Sri Mahadevaswamy of Benkanahalli Pattada Mutt, a branch of Suttur Mutt in in T Narsipur taluk allegedly ended his life by hanging himself at the mutt premises.

The seer, who served the mutt for the last 27 years, is said to have committed suicide after conducting routine pujas at the mutt. It is gathered that he had been suffering from heath-related ailments for some time now.

A photo of the seer hanging from the roof went viral on social media. Suspect foul plays in the death, the seer’s devotees have lodged a police complaint.

The body of the seer was taken out in a procession and his last rites were held on the Mutt premises. JSS seer Sivarathri Deshikendra swami, Sri Siddalinga Shivacharya swami of Vatal Mutt, Sri Channabasava swami and others supervised the rituals.
