Beware Patients! 2869 Fake Doctors Work in Karnataka; Shivamogga Tops with 634 Physicians

Bengaluru: As many as 2, 869 fake doctors have been treating patients in Karnataka state out of which 634 serving the people in Shivamogga district alone followed by Bidar (276), Kolar (273) and others. Shivamogga has topped in the list and people should cautious while consulting a doctor there, said state health minister KR Ramesh Kumar answering to a question at state monsoon assembly session on Monday.  

Mysuru district alone has 536 vacant posts of physicians awaiting qualified doctors and state government is yet to fill the vacancies. Earlier, the state government formed a committee to identify the fake doctors in Karnataka and the committee is yet to release its report on the matter. Once it submits its report, the government would take necessary action against such fake doctors, he added.
