Bhadravathi: Truck collision causes railway disruption

Shimoga: A chaotic scene unfolded near Bhadravathi railway station on Wednesday night as the Mysore-Bangalore Talagoppa train, en route from Bengaluru, came to a sudden halt due to the derailment of railway tracks. Simultaneously, the Janshatabdi train traveling from Shimoga to Bangalore stopped abruptly at Shimoga station, leaving passengers in a state of panic.

The disruption occurred after a large vehicle crashed through a 4-meter high barricade, colliding with the railway tracks near the Bhadravati railway underpass. The impact displaced the tracks by approximately a foot, prompting immediate repair efforts by railway department staff, who have been working tirelessly since midnight to rectify the situation.

Passengers aboard the Mysore-Bangalore-Shimoga train, scheduled to arrive at Bhadravati station at 4:30 am, found themselves stranded as the train came to a standstill. Similarly, commuters on the Shimoga to Bangalore route, anticipating departure at 5:15 am, were left waiting anxiously at Shimoga station.

Fortunately, the Talagoppa train from Bangalore successfully reached Shimoga at 7:00 am, providing relief to stranded travelers. Meanwhile, the Janshatabdi train departing from Bangalore commenced its journey back at 7:05 am, gradually restoring normalcy to the disrupted rail services.
