Manipal: Bhagavad Gita is not just a religious scripture but a secular one that acts as a guide for national, international, personal, family, and professional issues. Regular reading of the Gita brings focus and peace of mind, said Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji, the head of Sri Puthige Matha on Thursday.

The seer delivered a sermon after releasing the “Srimad Bhagavad Gita” book, brought out by the Manipal Grama Seva Trust of Manipal at the Geetha Mandir in Manipal. with blessings.

The Geetha Mandir of Manipal stands as the foundation of success. The inspiration from the Bhagavad Gita is evident behind the achievements of the great souls here. Udupi’s Geetha Mandir is also inspired by this, he observed.

Attaining greatness in life is feasible by following the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. Mental health professionals and corporate entities utilize its essence for better concentration and fulfillment in work. Studying the Bhagavad Gita spiritually enables personal growth, reducing arrogance for inner peace, the Puthige Sri said.

Bhagavad Gita is akin to a GPS, guiding us towards our life goals. Following it universally leads to the attainment of specific goals and serves as the supreme guiding light, fostering greatness, he added.

“Sri Krishna leads the world. One should relinquish the idea of ‘I am everything’ and embrace the notion that everything belongs to God. Unnecessary stress about any matter should be avoided. Welcoming everything with contentment is crucial. One must not act against the will of God as it could lead to unrest,” the seer said.

Sri Puthige Swamiji mentioned that his goal, following ascending the Sarvajna Peetha in the upcoming Paryaya, is to translate the Bhagavad Gita into all major languages of the world, build a grand gateway in Udupi, and host an international conference on the Gita.

Sri Puthige Swamiji likened Manipal’s impact to lifting the Govardhan mountain for Sri Krishna. The dissemination of Bhagavad Gita through Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna aims to bring it to the forefront.

Dr. Sandhya S. Pai, the managing editor of Taranga Magazine, observed that if Manipal, like a shining hill, has gained global fame, it’s due to the monumental efforts of ‘Yugapurusha’ Upendra Pai. His engaged reading and contemplation of the teachings of Bhagavad Gita steeled his resolve.
