- No water for close to 200 homes; Pipeline problem
Bejai: Due to a problem in the pipeline supplying drinking water, close to 200 homes in Bharatinagar, coming under Bejai limits have remained devoid of water supply since 4-5 days. If the whole city is in a festive mood due to Ganeshotsav, the residents of this locality are in deep trouble due to the lack of water.
Corporation officials are struggling to locate the problem along the length of the underground pipeline. Already, they have dug up at 8 different locations along the pipeline within Bejai limits for inspection. Also, they are checking if the water is leaking out into the manhole nearby. Meanwhile, water is being supplied to the residents of Bharatinagar from the water tank near Kadri Park, but during such time, testing cannot be done.
A few days back, the road near Bejai market was dug up by a private company to install cables. Since the work was done during the night, the pipeline must have damaged, complaint the localities. Since the water pipeline problem began, water supply to the residents of Bharatinagar has been stopped. Also due to the stop in water supply, the toilets in Bejai market are producing quite a stench.
As there was no water supply for the close to 200 houses, many people found it very difficult to celebrate Ganeshotsav. Meanwhile, the local corporator Prakash Salian, provided water to the residents by way of a water tanker. He also asked the officials to to repair the pipeline.
300 meters of new pipeline
“Problem has been located in the 300 meters of pipeline between bejai complex valve and bejai market valve. Due to this, water supply to a few houses has been stopped. For now, a new pipe has been brought and has been decided to be connected on the roadside. In a couple of days, the problem will be solved,” explained Prakash Salian, Corporator.
