Biennial Election for graduates’ and teachers’ constituencies in Karnataka on June 13

Biennial Election to Karnataka Legislative Council from 2 Graduates’ and 2 Teachers’ Constituencies will be held on June 13, the Election Commission of India said on Thursday.
The election has been necessitated as the term of office of four sitting members — Nirani Hanamant Rudrappa from Karnataka North-West Graduates’ Constituency; K.T. Srikantegowda from Karnataka South Graduates’ Constituency; Arun Shahapur from Karnataka North-West Teachers’ Constituency and Basavaraj Shivalingappa Horatti from Karnataka West Teachers’ is going to expire on July 4.
The election notification will be issued on May 19, the last date for filing nominations is May 26 and the scrutiny of nominations will take place on the very next day.
The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is May 30. Polling will be held between 8:00 am – 4:00 pm on June 13, counting of votes will take place on June 15.
The Model Code of Conduct concerning these elections will come into force with immediate effect in the concerned Constituencies.
