Mumbai:  The house of the controversial yet popular reality show “Bigg Boss” which enters its 11th season has pop art as its theme with lots of mirrors and monochrome composition.

Spread in a sprawling 19,400 square feet area and 90 cameras around, the house in the picturesque Lonavala near Mumbai has been designed by director Omung Kumar along with his wife Vanita. The highlight of the house are vibrant paintings and mirror work.

“We wanted the house to be colourful and modern that is why I kept in my mind the pop art culture. The theme this season is pop art so every element in the house pops out,” Omung said in an interview.

“We have also played with different colours, buttons, flowers and then kept black and white just to keep the balance. The walls are done up in different ways and also painted with vibrant colours,” he added.

Akin to some previous seasons, this edition too will have a motley of celebrities and commoners who will spend three months inside the “Bigg Boss” house. This time, the contestants have been divided into two groups – Gharvale and Padosi.

The main entrance of the house opens up to a garden and activity area. All tasks will be performed in this space. The area also has a mini pool, underground jail with a dirty washroom and three uncomfortable beds, gym area, smoking room, wooden benches and colourful mini chairs and tables adorned with cushions.

On the jail set up, Omung, said, “I changed the look of the jail as well as I was asked to make it look like what it was in ‘Sarabjit’.”  As one enters the house, there is a living area adorned with multi-coloured button wall and the other side has a monochrome look with framed black-and-white drawings and colourful wall embellished with flowers and leaves.

Facing the large television screen, from where host Salman Khan interacts with the contestants, is a large lip shape shimmery sofa and funky chairs to fit in all of them. The kitchen and dining area has been decked up with a lot of mirror work.

The bedroom area this time has eight double beds for all the contestants and it is done artistically with a lot of comic book paintings and mirror work. The confession room has a retro feel to it with a huge car-shaped sitting placed with headlights and number plates on the table. The show premieres tonight on Colors channel.
