Bigg Boss Kannada contestant held for ‘illegal’ adoption

Byaradahalli police on Friday arrested social media influencer Sonu Srinivas Gowda for allegedly adopting a child without following the legal procedures.
Gowda, who was a contestant on Bigg Boss Kannada season 1 reality show has several followers on Instagram.
A FIR regarding the illegal adoption was lodged by Geeta, an official of the state Child welfare committee.
It is alleged that Gowda adopted a seven-year-old child named Sevanti without following the procedures
During the police investigation, Gowda said that the legal paperwork for the adoption was underway and would be completed within three months time.
She stated that the child’s parents worked as labourer near her apartment. The child used to come to her house and play. Recently when the child went to Raichur with her parents she developed a fever and called her, Gowda said.
She claimed that she then went to Raichur and brought the child home saying that she would care for her.
