Bike-tempo collision at Manki; Three killed on spot

Bhatkal: Three persons were killed on the spot in a ghastly bike-tempo accident on national highway 66 at Manki Anthawadi, Honnavar taluk on Tuesday August 14th.

The deceased have been identified as Abhishek Vivek Naik (22) from Kumta, Sangeeta Timappa Gowda (16) and Sandeep Timappa Gowda (12) from Ananthwadi. Sangeeta and Sandeep were siblings.

According to reports, the deceased were on their way to Kumta from Murudeshwar when their bike collided head-on with an oncoming tempo which was plying from Honnavar to Bhatkal. The impact of the collision was such that the fuel tank of the bike exploded and was gutted. The victims suffered critical burn injuries and died on the spot.

The mortal remians of the victims have been taken to Manki government hospital for post mortem. Manki police have registered a case and driver of the tempo has been detained. Investigations are underway.
