Mysuru: A student fell from his bike and sustained injuries near the Karnataka State Open University on Hunsur Road on Friday when police put a barricade in front of him to stop him. The traffic police were conducting random checks on vehicles when they tried to stop the student, Akshay Kumar, abruptly using a barricade. The sudden stop made him lose control and he fell down, injuring himself.
Later, along with other passsersby, Akshay protested in the middle of the road demanding the intervention of city police commissioner A Subramanyeshwar Rao. They accused the police of only collecting fines and bribes and not actually caring about the lives of motorists. While the protest disrupted the traffic movement in the area, the cops who were actually responsible for the incident were nowhere to be seen. Sub Inspector Mamatha reached the place to bring the situation under control but was accosted when she tried to record the protest on her phone.
