Bill Tabled in Karnataka Assembly to Facilitate Kambala

Mangaluru/Belagavi: In an attempt to support folk sports event Kambala, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Karnataka Amendment) Bill, 2017 was tabled in Karnataka assembly session being held at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi. With new amendment, the government aims to exempt the folk sports from the ambit of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960.
Karnataka State Animal Husbandry Minister A Manju tabled the amended bill in assembly session and the assembly is yet to pass the bill after a detailed discussion in the current session of the assembly. Earlier, the state government had passed an ordinance to facilitate the organizers to conduct Kambala and other three folk sports events in the state.
