Bengaluru: Ahead of the upcoming by-elections in three Assembly constituencies in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday (Oct 19) declared its candidates for two of the constituencies.
Bharat, the son of former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai, has been named as the candidate for the Shiggaon constituency.
For the Sandur ST reserved constituency, Bangaru Hanumanth has been chosen as the BJP candidate. Hanumanth, currently serving as the State President of BJP’s ST Morcha, was selected among several aspirants.
However, the announcement for the highly anticipated Channapatna constituency has not been made yet. The suspense over the candidate for this seat, which has seen intense competition, continues to stir curiosity, especially as the constituency is central to ongoing alliance discussions.
The by-elections for these three constituencies are scheduled to be held on November 13.
The party also named 24 candidates for assembly polls across eight states.
BJP fielded Navya Haridas from Kerala’s Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, where Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is contesting on a Congress ticket.
Former MP Sunil Soni will contest from the Raipur City South assembly in Chhattisgarh.
Besides the central state, the BJP named its nominees for the assembly bypolls being held in Assam, Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and West Bengal.
