Mysuru: Prof. SL Bhyrappa, in an interaction with reporters at his residence in Kuvempu city, expressed confidence in Narendra Modi’s re-election as Prime Minister of India and predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could secure more than half of the seats in Karnataka.
Bhyrappa highlighted the favorable atmosphere for Modi’s return to power and suggested that despite potential vote splitting in Karnataka, the BJP stands poised to claim a significant electoral victory.
Bhyrappa criticized the current state government for its implementation of guarantee schemes. “The previous BJP-led government in the state was not very effective… The present government has control, but the way they are going about it is undesirable. They can be popular for offering guaranteed plans, but that has emptied the government coffers. this is why the state government is blaming the centre,” he said.
Earlier in the day, on Friday, BJP’s Mysore-Kodagu constituency candidate Yaduveer Krishnadatta Wadiyar sought blessings from S L Bhyrappa.
“Pratapasimha is a dynamic man. He has done a lot of good work in the last ten years. He was against the celebration of Tipu Jayanti in Kodagu. He has the courage to fight. This time he missed the ticket… but there is a lot of work to be done,” said Bhyrappa.
“It is a good thing that BJP has given a ticket to Yaduveer. Looking at Yaduveer’s background, he is a good candidate and given an opportunity, he will do well,” Bhyrappa added.
