Chikkaballapura: In order to attract Muslim voters BN Bachchegowda BJP candidate from Chikkaballapura has released his election pamphlet in the Urdu language.
Speaking on the issue a BJP leader said that in Chikkaballapura, Muslim votes are very crucial, therefore to keep the Muslim votes happy, he released his pamphlet in Urdu.
“He is very popular among members of all religions including the Muslims,” he added.
It is gathered that Bachchegowda a former Janata Dal leader joined the BJP after a difference of opinion with party supremo H D Deve Gowda.
Recently, DCM and senior leader of the party K S Eshwarappa had said that his party will not give tickets to Muslims to contest the elections as they do not believe in the party.
“We will not give…We will not give ticket to Muslims in Karnataka. Why? (because) you do not believe in us. If you believe and vote us, if you understand us, we will see,” Eshwarappa said.
He also alleged that the Congress party has only used Muslims as a “vote bank.”
However, the senior leader from the Kuruba community later clarified that he was not a hater of any community including Muslims and his statement was in response to a specific question about Iqbal Ansari, a political leader from the district, getting a ticket from the BJP.
