‎Bengaluru:‎‎ BJP has released its list of 16 candidates for the elections to Rajya Sabha to be held throughout the country on June 10. The party has announced the names of two candidates for the 4 seats from Karnataka.

As expected, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will contest from Karnataka. Surprisingly, Kannada actor Jaggesh has been named as the second candidate.

Based on the strength of each party in the state legislative assembly, BJP can win 2 seats while Congress can comfortably win one seat in the Rajya Sabha. However, both parties lack the numerical advantage when it comes to the fourth seat.

Meanwhile, Krupendra Reddy who is expected to be the candidate from the JDS has already met Congress leaders and sought their support.

There are rumors that the BJP is thinking of fielding a third candidate from the state to divide the JDS and Congress votes. If that happens the election is certain to heat up for the fourth seat from the state.
