BJP has people’s mandate, says Amit Shah

New Delhi/Bengaluru: BJP President Amit Shah congratulated Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on his victory. He also accused the Congress of practising “corrupt and divisive politics”. In a series of tweets, Shah took digs at the Congress and all that it had done in the past.

“The legacy of Mr. Rahul Gandhi’s party is the horrific Emergency, blatant misuse of Article 356, subverting the courts, media and civil society,” he tweeted.

Shah asserted that the BJP, which had won 104 seats, had the people’s mandate. He also pointed out that the Congress had just 78 seats, with its ministers and the CM losing by huge margins. “The murder of democracy happens the minute a desperate Congress made an opportunist offer to the JD(S), not for Karnataka’s welfare but for their own petty political gains,” he said.

He also hoped that the new BJP government in the State will fulfil people’s aspirations and the promises made to them.
