BJP helms Moodabidri town council for first time

Moodabidri: For the first time, BJP has assumed power in the Moodabidri town council.
Prasad Kumar and Sujatha Shashidhar Kotian were elected President and Vice President of the town council on November 7.
There are 23 seats in the town council, Congress has 11 seats and BJP 12.
PK Thomas and Mamata were nominated by the Congress for the posts of president and vice president. Both received 11 votes each.
MLA Umanath Kotyan vote tilted the election in favour of Prasad and Sujatha who secured 13 votes each.
Prasad Kumar is a three-time town councillor while Sujata has entered the council for the first time.
Tehsildar Guruprasad was the electoral officer for the election.
Chief Officer of the town council Indu M was also present during the election.
