BJP is against father-son duo, says Yeddyurappa

Bengaluru: Leader of the Opposition attacked the father-son duo, JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, during his address in the House. He alleged that he supported Kumaraswamy completely when he was the CM for 20 months (from 2006-2008). However, when he was to become the CM, the father-son began their politics, he alleged. He expressed regret over supporting the government in 2006.

He said that in the Assembly elections, the people’s mandate had been neglected for opportunistic policies. He pointed that the JD(S) had lost its deposit in more than 120 seats, losing in 16 districts. But ironically, a JD(S) leader was made the Chief Minister of the State. He called the government a “sinking ship” and said that he had no objection if the Congress wanted to be part of such a ship. He also told Congress MLA D.K. Shivakumar that he would regret protecting all of his MLAs.

He declared that the BJP was only against the corrupt father-son duo and said that the party would continue its stuggle against them. He also added that he had extended invitations to other MLAs only to make sure that they do not assume power in the State. He also called the coalition an “impure” one and alleged that the sole reason it was formed was to prevent the BJP from coming to power.

“Why didn’t the Congress try to keep the Chief Minister’s post? Even before the results were entirely declared, the coalition was already being discussed,” he said. Yeddyurappa told Congress legislators that people were laughing at their party because they had joined hands with the JD(S). He urged them to think about the future of their party.
