BJP is anti-minority: Siddu reacts to discontinuation of Shaadi Bhagya

Davangere: Lashing out at BS Yediyurappa over the decision to discontinue the Shaadi Bhagya scheme, former chief minister Siddaramaiah said that the move reflects the anti-minority attitude ot the BJP government.

In an order issued on Saturday, the state government directed the minority welfare department to stop receiving applications under the Shaadi Bhagya scheme with immediate effect.

Speaking to reporters here in Davangere, Siddaramaiah said, “Article 14 of the Indian Constitution guarantees equality to all persons. But the mindset of the BJP is anti-Constitutional. This is proved with the decision to discontinue the Shaadi Bhagya scheme.”

On Umesh Katti’s demand for separate statehood for North Karnataka region, Siddaramaiah said that it was wrong on his part to issue threats demanding separate statehood. Katti should raise his voice in the state assembly and ensure developmental projects are granted to his constituency.

Reacting to remarks made by BJP leader Baburao Chinchansur that Siddarmaiah will join the BJP in the near future and will be offered a Union Minister post, he said that it was a baseless claim. “I have been committed to social justice in my political career. Claims that I will join BJP in a few days is nothing but a stupid one. Those with a firm belief in party ideology will not go to another party.” he said.
