BJP lacks credibility to address corruption issue: Shettar

Former Chief Minister and Legislative Council member Jagdish Shettar questioned the moral standing of  BJP members allegedly fighting against the state Congress government.

“Are members of the BJP party Satya Harishchandras (King known for his truthfulness)? People of the state have rejected them due to allegations of corrupt administration. Also, the party has no state president and no opposition leader in the assembly which shows a lack of clear leadership,” he said.

Shettar also reacted to Union Minister Prahlada Joshi’s statement, in which he claimed that the Congress government in the state had collected Rs 1000 crore for assembly elections in various states. Shettar challenged the validity of this claim, asking for evidence to support it. He expressed his disappointment with Joshi, who holds a position of responsibility, for making such statements without concrete proof.

Furthermore, Shettar highlighted the financial challenges faced by the state’s power distribution companies (Eskoms) and emphasized that these entities were not profitable, even during the BJP’s governance. He attributed the current electricity shortage to the lack of rainfall, resulting in deficient electricity generation. Shettar noted that the government has been compelled to purchase electricity from alternative sources to compensate for the shortfall.
