BJP Leader, MLC Vimala Gowda Passes Away in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Senior BJP leader and sitting MLC K S Vimala Gowda who suffered a cardiac arrest a few weeks ago, passed away on Monday evening.

Vimala Gowda was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit at a private hospital in the state capital for a few weeks.

She is survived by husband Lakkanna Gowda, two sons and grandchildren.

The family has said that the body would be kept in the hospital till Wednesday as some of the relatives were to arrive from abroad. The funeral ceremony is expected to be held at Wilson Garden, Bengaluru. 

Vimala Gowda started her political career as a BJP activist in 1980 in the state capital and was later elected to the legislative council in 2000, 2006 and 2012. She also held major positions in her party as a senior leader.
