BJP leaders support Modi’s silence on Mahadayi dispute

Bengaluru: The state BJP is defending the Prime Minister’s silence on the Mahadayi river water dispute between Karnataka and Goa.
A press conference was held on Monday by BJP leaders D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Jagadish Shettar and K.S. Eshwarappa.
In response to Congress critising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for remaining silent on Mahadayi water dispute, Sadananda Gowda said that Prime Minister had come to Bengaluru to participate in an election rally. It would be very inappropriate to bring up the Mahadayi dispute at political rallies.
The BJP also took objection to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah not welcoming the Prime Minister on his arrival in the city, in person. They said that it was disrespect to the Prime Minister by a state’s Chief Minister.
