Mangaluru: Former minister and senior Congress leader Ramanath Rai on Wednesday made serious allegations that BJP lost Hangal assembly bypoll despite doling out Rs. 10,000 per household in cash incentives.
Addressing a press conference here, Ramanath Rai said, “During the Hangal bypoll, the BJP has given out Rs 10,000 per house. Yet they were defeated.” He further alleged that BJP had also distributed money in Sindagi and misused administrative machinery.
“The Congress party has secured more seats than the BJP in the by-election across the country. People are feeling the effects of the price rise and the failure of the government’s governance,” he added.
Launching a scathing attack on the BJP government, Rai said “It is reprehensible that the minister is defending price rise. It is meaningless to link corona and price rise. People will teach them (BJP government) a lesson if they hide from people’s problems and play politics based only on emotional issues.”
