BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal announced an indefinite day-and-night protest beginning Monday, November 4, at 11:00 AM. The protest, starting with a procession from Shri Siddheshwar Temple to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, aims to address concerns over unauthorized entries labeling various properties as Waqf assets.

In a press release, Yatnal demanded the immediate removal of entries marking farmers’, religious institutions’, and government lands as Waqf properties. He emphasized that only farmers’ names should appear on property records and that any property disputes should be handled in standard courts, not Waqf tribunals, which he argued diminish the authority of government courts.

Yatnal urged officials to retract and cease issuing notices related to Waqf properties and called for the repeal of the Waqf Act. He demanded the nationalization of all Waqf properties across the country to bring them under government jurisdiction. Additionally, he called for the withdrawal of Waqf notifications issued post-1974 and accountability for officials who have mislabeled properties.

The protest is expected to see participation from leaders at the state and central levels, as well as support from farmers, citizens, legal professionals, religious leaders, Hindu organizations, traders, and women across the district. Yatnal encouraged mass participation to ensure the success of this indefinite protest for justice.
