In the meeting of the state BJP office bearers under the leadership of the newly appointed state president, B.Y. Vijayendra, discussions took an intense turn as concerns over the controversial statements made by the party leader Basanagowda Patil Yatnal came to the forefront.
The meeting saw office bearers questioning the lack of action against Yatnal, who has been making statements that allegedly embarrass the party.
The gathering, convened at the party office, aimed to discuss organizational issues, the selection of district office bearers, and other party-related matters. Vijayendra distributed appointment letters to the new officials and shed light on organizational aspects during the meeting, which was also addressed by State BJP General Secretary G.V. Rajesh.
Amidst growing concerns over Yatnal’s statements, some office bearers raised the issue, questioning why disciplinary action had not been taken against him, especially given his repeated statements that have garnered attention.
The concern was expressed regarding the potential impact on the party’s image and the ammunition it provides to political opponents, particularly the Congress.
Responding to these concerns, Vijayendra urged the office bearers to focus on the broader goals of party building and preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He emphasized that only the Central Disciplinary Committee holds the authority to take action against MLAs like Yatnal.
Vijayendra sought to pacify the office bearers, redirecting their attention towards the party’s overarching objective of winning elections and supporting Prime Minister Modi.
