Mangaluru: District Congress Committee President Harish Kumar lashed out at the ruling BJP government in Karnataka and predicted their defeat in the upcoming assembly polls.

Reacting to CM Basavaraj Bommai’s statement, Harish Kumar said that it is not the Congress thatwill be trashed, but the BJP. Those who are doing the ‘Vijaya Sankalpa Yatre’ will have to undertake the ‘Tirtha Yatre’ (pilgrimage) in the future, the Congress leader lashed out.

Speaking to the media in Mangaluru on March 17, Harish Kumar accused the BJP of neglecting the poor by closing Indira canteens and reducing rice rations. The party has already made 3 guarantees to the people. Moreover, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to participate in the Yuva Sangama on March 20 in Belagavi, where he is expected to unveil a youth guarantee scheme, he said.

The BJP leaders, who use Gods as a tool to gain power, are now speaking ill about them when in power, he claimed.  Home Minister Araga Jnanendra has insulted Guliga, the revered deity of Tulunad, he said and demanded a public apology from the minister.

The Congress leader also denied any agreement with the SDPI, while also stating that the allegations made by SDPI leaders are not significant.

Congress leaders Santhosh Kumar Shetty, Mahabala Marla, Uday Achar, Prakash Salian, and others were present at the press conference.
