Bengaluru: BJP leads in 36 wards in Belagavi City Corporation while Congress in 9 wards, independents in 12 wards, and AIMIM in 1.

However, BJP fell short of three seats to get a clear majority in HDMC while the Congress wins in 33 seats. It was a dismal performance by the JD(S) which could win only one seat.

AIMIM which contested for the first time gave a good performance by winning three seats. Six independent candidates have won.

In Kalaburagi, however, Congress wins in 27 seats and fell short of just 1 seat to get a clear majority. BJP wins in 23 seats, JD(S) in 4 seats, and an independent candidate won 1 seat.

Also, Belagavi city police resorted to mild lathi-charge to scatter BJP supporters who gathered to celebrate and violated Covid norms.
