Mysuru: For the first time in the history of the Mysuru City Corporation the BJP has won the mayoral elections.
Sunanda Palnetra has been elected as the 35th mayor of the 23rd term of the Corporation.
The mayoral election was necessitated after the collapse of the Congress-JD(S) coalition in the municipal corporation ending the mayorship of Rukmini Made Gowda.
In the election, BJP’s candidate Sunanda Palnetra received 26 votes, Congress’s candidate Shanthakumari received 22 and JD(S) candidate Ashwini Anantu received 19 votes.
The BJP has reportedly signed an agreement with the JD(S) to give the post of the mayor to it for the next two terms.
