Bengaluru: BJP MLC M K Pranesh  has been elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council on Friday, January 29.

The Vice-Presidential election was contested by M K Pranesh from BJP and K C Kondaiah from Congress.

As Pranesh was backed up by the JD (S) MCLs in the elections, he got 41 votes in his favour whereas Kondaiah got only 24 votes.

A no-confidence motion has already been filed by BJP against the sitting Chairman Prathapchandra Shetty, a Congress MLC.

Due to the lack of numbers in the Council, Prathapchandra is expected to resign soon.
