Blame EVMs for defeat; Ex-MLAs JR Lobo, Bava move HC

Mangaluru: Ex-MLA’s of Congress who had suffered a shock defeat in the recent Assembly elections have moved to the High Court expressing doubts about the EVMs.
The defeated Congress candidate from Mangaluru South Constituency J.R. Lobo had moved the High Court blaming EVM for his defeat. He was later joined by Mangaluru North constituency’s defeated Congress candidate BA Moidin Bava, M K Somashekhar, the defeated candidate form Mysuru’s Krishnaraja constituency and Vasu from Chamaraja constituency who moved to the HC for similar grounds.
BJP’s Vedavys Kamath defeated J.R. Lobo by a margin of iver 16,000 votes in Mangaluru South constitueny while BJP’s Dr Bharath Shetty defeated Bava at Mangaluru North constituency.
Many other defeated candidates including Ramanatha Rai (Bantwal), Vasanth Bangera(Belthangady), Shakuntala Shetty (Puttur), Pramod Madhwaraj(Udupi) and Vinaykumar Sorake (Kaup) have already complained to the Election Commission that their defeat was due to the alleged manipulation of the EVM’s.
