The irresponsible behaviour of Bengaluru 108 ambulance service personnel has sparked outrage after they allegedly told a caller that it was not possible to reach the location and suggested waiting for an hour.

The incident took place on August 1 when a nine-month pregnant woman began experiencing severe abdominal pain. The woman was among the several were relocated to the KTK Kalyana Mantapa care center following flooding in their locality near Jayachamarajendra Tunga Bridge.

Despite immediate calls to the 108 ambulance service, no ambulance arrived even after 45 minutes. With no vehicles on the road due to the rain, another call was made to the 108 service but the staff irresponsibly responded, stating that it was not possible to reach the location and suggested waiting for an hour.

Expressing outrage over the incident, the displaced residents urged the Chief Medical Officer of Jayachamarajendra Hospital and the district medical officer to address the issue and direct the 108 Bangalore Ambulance staff to respond to the plight of the people so that this does not occur in the future.

Meanwhile, Revenue Department Officers who were visiting the KTK Kalyana Mantapa to provide coffee and tea to the displaced noticed the pregnant woman in severe pain and immediately took her to Jayachamarajendra Taluk Hospital in their car without waiting for the ambulance.

The displaced residents expressed their gratitude to Revenue Department Officers Sudhir, Mohanesh, and Lokesh for their prompt and humane response.
