Bengaluru: A FIR has been registered against a 21-year-old woman, who survived an attempted rape by a dance choreographer, for her alleged involvement in a series of auto-rickshaw accidents on the day of the alleged sexual assault.

The victim is currently receiving medical treatment after allegedly surviving an attempted rape by a dance choreographer on Sunday late at night.

According to the police, the victim was driving a car with her friend in Koramangala before the alleged sexual assault. Around 12:30 AM, while attempting a U-turn at the Mangala Junction, she collided with an auto-rickshaw. Subsequently, she hit two more auto-rickshaws while reversing the car. Instead of stopping, she reportedly drove off towards Forum Mall. The auto-rickshaw drivers followed her and confronted her near the mall, asking her to pay for the damages.

However, the woman and her friend did not heed their demand and fled the spot as the situation escalated. They even left behind their car on the roadside. The police were called to the scene, and the auto-rickshaw drivers reported the incident.

Based on a complaint filed by one of the auto-rickshaw drivers, identified as Ajaz, Adugodi Traffic Police registered an FIR against the woman.

The police revealed that after this incident, the woman hitched a ride from an unknown person on a two-wheeler. She claimed that he took her to a deserted area and assaulted her.

Statement from Friend Recorded

The victim’s friend, who was present during the accident, has been questioned by the police. Following a police notice, he appeared for questioning on Tuesday and provided his statement. He stated that they had attended a college friend’s birthday party. He however insisted that neither he nor the victim had consumed alcohol and that the woman accidentally hit the auto-rickshaws while driving.

Authorities have asked the friend to produce his driving license and will also obtain a statement from the victim once she recovers. Her driving license will also be checked as part of the ongoing investigation.
