Bengaluru: Since the arrest of three people in the city for smuggling and supplying drugs to many prominent names in the Kannada movie and music industry and other high society personalities in other parts of the State lot of noise on the back of rumours are coming around on the reaction from the government against all of them.
Speaking to reporters, Excise Minister H Nagesh said the underground drugs network is big and growing in Bengaluru. He added that the police and the Excise Department will jointly work to curb the growth.
NCB sources have revealed a list with tens of names of actors, actresses and musicians has already been prepared based on one of the arrested drug kingpin Anika’s statement. A notice will be issued to all to attend an inquiry.
A diary was found in Anika’s house during the NCB raid on August 21. The diary mentioned the names of her customers and her peddlers. The notice is issued based on that questioning those in the list about the relationship between Anika and them and since how many years have they been acquainted with her.
This Sandalwood drug use case has surfaced just as a drugs-link has emerged in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
It maybe recalled that BJP MLA Kalakappa Bandi narrated his personal tryst with drugs menace in the assembly. His son, who was enrolled at a college in Bengaluru in 2018, became a drug addict within few days of starting college. He learned of his son’s addiction almost six months later and stated that with much difficulty he could get him out of it. He prayed that such a situation should not come to any parent, and the requested the government to take drastic measures to curb the spread of drugs in society.
G Parameshwara, who was the Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister then stated that this is not the first time that drugs have entered Bengaluru. Thirty years ago, a student was addicted to this addiction while he was in college in Bengaluru. He added that they will never allow Karnataka to become another Punjab.
