B’luru: Geologist found murdered at home

In a shocking incident, a woman, working as a senior geologist with the Department of Mines and Geology was found murdered at her reisdence in Bengaluru on Sunday morning.

The deceased identified as Pratima was residing alone in Kuvempunagar in Doddakallasandra under Subramanyapura police station limits. Her husband and son live in Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district.

It is gathered that Prathima had returned home from work at around 8 pm on Saturday. The murder came to light when Prathima’s brother came to check on her on Sunday morning as calls made to her went unanswered.

Police said that no valuables are missing from the house.

”The death is because of strangulation and throat slitting. Forensic and technical teams are at work on the spot. Three teams have been formed for investigation. We will be able to share further information, once we get to know exactly what happened.” DCP, South Division, Bengaluru City, Rahul Kumar Shahapurwad told reporters here.

Reacting to a question on the incident, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Mysuru said the murder will be inquired into and the reason is not yet known.

”I just got to know about it. We will inquire into it. It seems that she was staying alone (in Bengaluru), while her husband was in his native village. The reason is not yet known, we will inquire into it,” he said.
