Bengaluru: A woman killed herself after allegedly being falsely accused of stealing valuables from a home where she worked as a housemaid. She also videotaped her suicide that took place in KR Pura Police station limits here.

The deceased was identified as Uma (40), a resident of KR Pura. She was employed as a housemaid at an apartment owned by Rohit Bailur at Bhattarahalli for the past 3 months.

It is gathered that Rohit had lodged a complaint of theft of jewelry worth Rs 12 lakhs at his home a few days ago. He had expressed his suspicions of the involvement of his housemaids Uma and Anjinamma. Police had registered the complaint on February 10 and inquired about the incident.

It is alleged that Uma was upset after the police inquiry and had tried to end her life by consuming poison. Despite this, she was called again to the police station on Thursday for another round of questioning.

On Friday, Uma recorded a statement alleging Rohit and the police officers falsely accused her of theft and ended her life. The matter is being investigated, police said.
