Bengaluru: A man was arrested from the Kempegowda International Airport while trafficking a young woman for allegedly selling her to a brothel in Delhi.
The accused, Dinesh, also raped the woman, police said.
As per the police, the victim had run away from her home in Kolar and was sitting alone at the bus stop at Majestic in Bengaluru. Dinesh who worked at a travel agency nearby noticed the lone woman and inquired why she was sitting alone. After knowing her predicament, he promised to help her get a job and took her to Devanahalli, and raped her.
Dinesh threatened the woman not to tell anyone about the incident and made arrangements to sell her to an agent in Delhi. He took the woman to the airport to board a flight to Delhi. But, the police got suspicious after noticing their movement and detained them for questioning. The matter of human trafficking came to light during the investigation.
It is gathered that Dinesh had similarly sold another woman to a Delhi-based brothel earlier too.
Meanwhile, police have rescued the woman and the accused has been arrested. Further investigations are underway.
