The mastermind behind a staged kidnapping, aimed at extorting money from a factory owner, has been apprehended by the city police.
The accused have been identified as Nurullah Hussain, Abubakar, and Ali Reza, all hailing from Bihar.
The victim has been identified as Mohammad Asif Habib, the owner of a factory located in RT Nagar. Nurullah Hussain had been employed at Asif’s factory for five years, and Asif, being deeply concerned for his well-being, spared no expense in taking care of him. However, unbeknownst to Asif, Nurullah had ulterior motives.
The plot unfolded as Nurullah Hussain, accompanied by his friends Abubakar and Ali Reza, initiated their plan to stage a kidnapping and demand a ransom. To carry out this scheme, the accused trio embarked on a journey, traveling to Mandya. From there, they contacted Asif and informed him of Nurullah’s supposed kidnapping. They demanded a ransom of Rs 2 lakh and assured Asif that they would release Nurullah upon receipt of the money.
Deeply concerned for Nurullah’s safety, Asif agreed to their demands and was prepared to provide the ransom. However, he promptly alerted the police, emphasizing the importance of ensuring Nurullah’s safety throughout the ordeal. Subsequently, Asif proceeded to deposit Rs 2 lakh into Nurullah’s bank account as instructed by the culprits.
The police closely monitored Nurullah’s mobile number, which eventually led them to Mandya. With the collaboration of Mandya Police, the accused were tracked down, detained, and subjected to interrogation. During the investigation, the truth behind the staged kidnapping unraveled.
It has come to light that Nurullah Hussain was in the process of making his escape to Bihar after successfully transferring an additional Rs 2 lakh into his bank account.
