Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested a youth for allegedly blackmailing his girlfriend with her private video and extorting Rs 2.57 crore.
According to CCB sources, the accused Mohan Kumar had befriended the 19-year-old girl in 2019 while she was studying at a private school in Devanahalli. Their relationship soon turned romantic.
Mohan lured the young woman on various trips and had physical intercourse with her after promising marriage. He also recorded videos of their private moments without her consent.
Using these videos, Mohan blackmailed the victim, extracting Rs 2.57 crore in cash, along with gold jewelry, a luxury watch, and a bike. Unable to bear the harassment any longer, the victim approached the police and filed a complaint.
The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway, the CCB police confirmed.
