Bengaluru: A man who harassed women by sending obscene videos and photographs on Facebook and WhatsApp chats was arrested by CEN police here.

The accused has been identified as Harish (32), a resident of Hassan. He allegedly sent obscene messages to the contact numbers of women whose phone numbers were publicly visible on their Facebook profiles. He also bombarded them with WhatsApp video calls and sexually explicit chats, police said.

The matter came to light after a Bilekahalli resident complained to the police about the obscene content received on his wife’s WhatsApp chats. The CEN police who investigated the matter traced the accused based on the cell phone CDR records and arrested Harish for the crime.

Police said that Harish had similarly targeted many other women who are yet to approach the police. They appealed to any victim of cyberbullying or harassment to approach the police immediately.

The police also cautioned the public not to share their personal details, including phone numbers and email addresses online.
