Police have arrested a 55-year-old man for allegedly bludgeoning his wife to death in Nagegowdanapalya near Thalaghattapura.

The accused Marappa reportedly suspected his wife, Padma of having an affair and would often pick up fights with her over the issue.

On the day of the incident too, a quarrel erupted between the couple and Marappa repeatedly assaulted Padma, which eventually resulted in her death.

The incident came to light when their son Girish returned home to find the door locked from inside. Girish sensed something amiss when his mother did not respond to his calls and knocking. He thus called the police.

After the police arrived at the scene they broke open the door to find Padma lying dead on the floor and blood splattered everywhere. Marappa who was found sitting next to her body was arrested for the brutal murder.
