Police have arrested three persons for the brutal assault on a 28-year-old man which eventually caused his death in Bengaluru’s Hongasandra.
The deceased is identified as Samarth Nayar, a native of Bhadravathi who was in a live-in relationship with the ex-girlfriend of one of the accused Kiran (27).
According to the police, Kiran was in a relationship with a woman who worked in the same firm as him. They however parted ways about a year ago. Later the woman became acquainted with Samarth and moved into his rented apartment at Hongasandra.
Kiran came to know of their relationship recently when Samarth came to pick up the woman from her office. He followed them and was furious upon learning that they were in a live-in relationship.
He thus roped in two of his friends — Arun (30), and Rakesh (32) and decided to teach Samarth a lesson. On May 7 the trio entered Samarth’s residence at night and brutally assaulted him. The woman also got injured when she tried to intervene and stop the assault. The trio fled the scene when the landlord came to check the commotion.
Samarth was rushed to a hospital where he died two days later i.e May 9 night.
Following Samarth’s death, police invoked murder charges against the arrested trio.
