The dead body of a 19-year-old student, who was reported missing by his parents was recovered from a sand-laden truck on May 7, four days after his disappearance.
The deceased identified as Somanath R, a Hoskote resident was a student of Samruddhi College.
Workers at a building site in eastern Bengaluru’s HAL area were horrified to find the dead body in the sand truck during the unloading process and immediately notified the police.
Police were able to identify Somnath with the help of a face mask as it contained the name and phone number of a plywood dealer. Upon calling the dealer named Ravi Kumar, police came to know that the son of a sub-dealer Ramesh R was missing. He was called for the identification of the body and he confirmed it as Somnath.
As per a DHNS report, Somanth had left behind a note the day he went missing i.e on May 3 alleging harassment from some college mates. His chat records with his collegemates revealed that they had taken objection to Somanath’s message about a girl studying in the college. Police suspect that Somnath feared thrashing by them and thus took the extreme step. An autopsy report is awaited.
