Bengaluru: A Bengaluru hospital’s staff was booked after they allegedly refused to release a coronavirus patient’s body and made a relative sit with the body over unpaid medical bills.
Lakshmi Narayan (42) was admitted to a private Hospital in Channasandra after he was diagnosed with COVID-19 infection on May 17. On Thursday, May 27, he succumbed to the infection.
The patient’s family had reportedly paid ₹4.5 lakh but staff claimed they still had outstanding bills worth ₹3.67 lakh and refused to hand over the body.
It is said that the staff humiliated the victim’s family for bringing him to the hospital they can’t afford.
Police facilitated the release of the body and the relative on being informed.
