Bengaluru: In a shocking instance, a retired policeman has been arrested for allegedly raping his tenant’s minor daughter.
The accused, aged 74, who retired as a sub-inspector of the Bengaluru Police has been booked under the POCSO Act.
The incident reportedly took place on Monday night. The victim’s mother, in her statement to police, stated that her daughter had gone to the ground floor to fetch her fallen toy. As she didn’t return for some time, the mother raised an alarm following which the 7-year-old returned home in a pathetic state.
The victim who was in tears narrated her ordeal to her mother. When the minor’s father went to confront the accused landlord, he was threatened by his son, a policeman himself.
The victim’s father alleged that the retired sub-inspector’s son told him to take the money and vacate the rented residence without revealing the incident to anyone.
A medical examination is being conducted for the accused and the victim. It is gathered that the retired sub-inspector’s son may be charged for threatening the girl’s father and attempting to conceal the crime.
