Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a son killed his elderly mother for refusing to give money for buying liquor here at Marathahalli on late Saturday night.
Yamanamma (70), who lived in a hut at Devarajeevanahalli here, was allegedly killed by her son Ambarish (35) and has been arrested, police sources said.
Ambarish, who worked as a daily wage laborer, did not work regularly due to his addiction to alcohol. His mother Yamanamma took to begging on roads to make ends meet, sources said.
it is gathered that Ambarish pestered and even assaulted his mother for money. On Saturday too, he had an altercation with his mother for getting cash for drinks. When the victim refused to give him any, Ambarish assaulted her and dragged out of the hut, and pushed her onto the road.
Yamanamma, who sustained head injuries, died at the spot due to excessive bleeding.
Ambarish, who was in an inebriated state, was later arrested by the police and made to undergo a medical check-up.
A case has been registered at the Marathahalli Police station.
